Afghan Saddle Bag—Tabesh

$450

The Saddle Bag or "Yastik" was used as a means of transporting baggage & possessions. It was also important for a girl to weave a variety of bags for her dowry, so as a result they are often extremely well woven & finely detailed.

Today, old tribal bags are becoming hard to find, but are keenly sought after as Collectors items.

This is a 70 year old double-faced Balouch Saddle Bag from Afghanistan. Beautiful soft knotted pile on the front and kilim weave on the back. Would make a beautiful decorative piece or can be stuffed to create a floor cushion.
