Afghani Saddle Bag—Pushti

$395

Pushti is an Afghani Balouch Saddle Bag.

This bag was woven by the Nomadic people of Aimeq in central Afghanistan. The original function of this piece was to carry goods like bedding or foods from place to place. It was also important for a girl to weave a variety of bags for her dowry, so as a result they are often extremely well woven & finely detailed.

This antique bag is very finely woven and has beautiful detailing at the top. Double-sided design so can be flipped over to create a different look. These bags are becoming increasingly difficult to source and as such make great collectors pieces. They can be used to store things, stuffed to make cushions or to decorate tables, walls and thrown over chairs.
