This is an Afghan Balouch Soufreh or 'Eating Cloth' was traditionally used on the floor as a table cloth on which plates of food were placed.
Today, they make wonderful wall-hangings, however equally can be used as a floor rug. The square shape makes the soufreh a very versatile kilim.
This particular Soufreh is a Balouch Soufreh from SouthWest Afghanistan. Beautiful border detailing. Lovely warm brown tones.
