Vafa is an Afghan Aimaq Balouch Saddle Bag.
The Saddle Bag or "Yastik" was used as a means of transporting baggage & possessions. It was also important for a girl to weave a variety of bags for her dowry, so as a result they are often extremely well woven & finely detailed. Today, old tribal bags are becoming hard to find, but are keenly sought after as Collectors items. They can be decorative or stuffed to make beautiful floor cushions.
This piece is over 80 years old and is in excellent original condition.
