Baran is a beautiful vintage runner in excellent condition. It has been woven in knotted pile through the main body of the carpet with kilim weave at both ends, adding a beautiful variation and interest.
It has slightly unusual colouring for a Herki runner, with soft buttery beige tones around the borders which lightens the otherwise more traditional red tones through the centre field. A really beautiful piece.
It originates from the Herki people who are of Kurdish descent and their homelands are the mountainous regions of Eastern Turkey, Iran and Iraq.
