Tareq is a Kurdish Rah Rah rug.
Finely woven in tea-dyed wool, these attractive rugs have been woven using Soumak technique. They originates from the Kerman area in Iran, but most are made by nomadic Kurds in N Iraq & SE Turkey. The name ‘rah rah’ means ‘road road’, this being a reference to the horizontal lines of the designs. This piece however is slightly different in design, it is called a "Baklava" which references the diagonal shapes.
They are tightly woven and very hard wearing, especially suited to any heavy traffic areas such as entryways and hallways. Because of the colour palette & designs, rah-rahs combine happily with both kilims and knotted-pile rugs, hence making them extremely versatile.
