Gazi is an Afghan Balouch soumak Runner, woven by the Balouch people from Herat in Western Afghanistan. This runner was once a "Soufreh" which is a traditional eating cloth. It was used by families as a central focus at meal times to spread on a table or the floor and serve meals from.
This runner is a soft and relaxed style soumak weave which is slightly raised like an embroidery. It would make an excellent wall hanging. It can also be used in the more obvious way as a runner, but underlay would be recommended which we can cut to size.
