Persian Saddle Bag—Oya

$525

The Saddle Bag or "Yastik" was used as a means of transporting baggage & possessions and this particular one has a central split that was placed over a camels hump, or across a donkey. It was also important for a girl to weave a variety of bags for her dowry, so as a result they are often extremely well woven & finely detailed.

Today, old tribal bags are becoming hard to find, but are keenly sought after as Collectors items.

This is a semi-old Afghani Saddlebag. A finely woven piece that is still in excellent original condition. A mixture of knotted pile and kilim weave.
